Getty Center to Undergo Major Modernization and Temporary Closure Starting March 2027
The J. Paul Getty Trust has announced a comprehensive campus-wide upgrade to the Getty Center, featuring designs by Gehry Partners, WHY Architecture, and OLIN. The project includes the replacement of the tram system, renovation of the Welcome Hall, and enhancements to the arrival area to accommodate 1.4 million annual visitors. The Getty Center will temporarily close to the public from March 15, 2027, through spring 2028 to facilitate the modernization efforts.
