Guggenheim New York to Screen Douglas Gordon and Philippe Parreno’s 'Zidane' Film During 2026 World Cup
The Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum will present 'Zidane, a 21st century portrait' (2006) from June 11 through July 19, 2026, marking the first time the work has been shown at the institution since its acquisition. Directed by Douglas Gordon and Philippe Parreno, the ninety-minute two-channel video projection follows soccer star Zinédine Zidane in real time during a 2005 match in Madrid. The exhibition, curated by Nat Trotman, is timed to coincide with the 20th anniversary of the film and the 2026 World Cup matches hosted in the New York metropolitan area.
