ICA San Francisco Commissions Large-Scale Public Installation by Jeffrey Gibson for 2026 Super Bowl
The Institute of Contemporary Art San Francisco (ICA SF) has commissioned artist Jeffrey Gibson to create a major public artwork titled 'THIS BURNING WORLD' (2026) on the facade of the former Bloomingdale’s building. The vinyl installation measures 433 by 66 feet and will be fully unveiled on February 2, 2026, to coincide with Super Bowl LX festivities. Supported by the San Francisco Downtown Development Corporation, the project adapts stills from Gibson's 2022 video installation into a mural spanning an entire city block along Mission Street.
