Kunsthaus Zürich Reports 539,500 Visitors in 2025 at 131st General Assembly
The Kunsthaus Zürich recorded over 539,500 visitors in 2025, the second-highest total in its history and the highest among Swiss art museums. At the 131st General Assembly of the Zürcher Kunstgesellschaft on June 8, 2026, members approved the 2025 annual report and accounts showing a loss of CHF 1,425,684. Dr. Ulrich Sigg was re-elected to the board for three years while Suzanne Naef Thalmann succeeded Corine Mauch. The institution also reported progress on financial stabilization measures including a provenance-related artwork sale.
The Signal
The assembly outcomes signal continued focus on long-term operational sustainability for the expanded facility amid structural deficits in personnel, security and infrastructure costs. With an own-revenue ratio near 50 percent and a pending public referendum on increased subsidies expected in autumn 2026, the museum aims to reach a balanced annual result by the end of 2027. Membership fees will rise an average of 10 percent from 2027 to support this trajectory.
