Artists Mirosław Bałka, Katharina Fritsch, and Mona Hatoum will present newly commissioned works for Manifesta 16, taking place in Germany's Ruhr region from June 21 to October 4, 2026. The 30th anniversary edition of the European Nomadic Biennial will feature over 100 participants across 12 former or abandoned church buildings in Bochum, Essen, Duisburg, and Gelsenkirchen. The exhibition focuses on how art can contribute to alternative social models and the repurposing of vacant spaces in response to social polarization.
