Art Basel Appoints Wassan Al-Khudhairi as Artistic Director for 2027 Qatar Edition

Art Basel has named Iraqi curator Wassan Al-Khudhairi as the Artistic Director for the 2027 edition of Art Basel Qatar, succeeding Wael Shawky. The second edition of the fair is scheduled to take place from January 28 to 30, 2027, at Msheireb Downtown Doha, featuring a curatorial theme titled "between / بين". Al-Khudhairi, the founding director of Mathaf: Arab Museum of Modern Art, will oversee the gallery selection process and artistic program in collaboration with Chief Artistic Officer Vincenzo de Bellis.
