White Cube has announced the death of Georg Baselitz, the influential German painter and sculptor who redefined Neo-Expressionism. Baselitz, born in 1938, was known for his radical approach to image-making, including his signature technique of painting subjects upside down. At the time of his passing, major exhibitions of his work were scheduled or ongoing in Venice, Salzburg, Florence, Spain, and Norway.
