Rijksmuseum Expands Research into Queer History with Baker McKenzie Partnership
On June 17, 2026, the Rijksmuseum announced new research into historically underrepresented subjects including queer history based on its collection from the Middle Ages to the 20th century. The museum appointed a researcher and launched a related public programme made possible by an extension of its partnership with Baker McKenzie. During WorldPride Amsterdam running from 25 July to 8 August the Rijksmuseum will host activities including the guided tour A Pink History and an evening event on 24 July with films and panel discussions.
The Signal
Baker McKenzie has partnered with the Rijksmuseum since 2007 enabling acquisition of more than 375 photographs that form a leading collection including works by Moholy-Nagy Germaine Krull William Klein and Helen Levitt along with exhibitions such as American Photography in 2025. The collaboration demonstrates how sustained corporate support can drive institutional efforts to broaden art historical narratives for curators and researchers.
