Artist Liza Lou has debuted a new series of works transitioning from her previous monochromatic bead sculptures to a fusion of oil painting and glass beads. The California-based artist, known for her large-scale installations such as 'Kitchen' (1991–1996), developed this latest practice in solitude following a 15-year collaborative period in South Africa. The new works utilize ready-made colors from oil sticks and glass beads to explore the intersection of materiality and the traditional art canon.
