Bonhams Knightsbridge to Auction Terence Stamp Collection
Bonhams will offer the personal collection of Terence Stamp (1938-2025) for the first time at its Knightsbridge location. The online sale Sound & Cinema: Featuring The Terence Stamp Collection runs from 15-25 June on bonhams.com and includes scripts, costumes, letters, photographs, furniture and fashion pieces from the actor's six-decade career. Highlights comprise three letters from Jean Shrimpton dated 1964-1987 (estimate £1,000-1,500), a 1991 handwritten letter from Princess Diana (£1,500-2,000), a 1962 Billy Budd script (£600-800), a pair of gold Palme d'Or cufflinks (£1,500-2,000), and several production-worn suits including one from Wall Street (estimate £3,000-5,000). Claire Tole-Moir, Head of Popular Culture at Bonhams, noted that the objects reflect Stamp's life as actor, writer, style icon and London figure of the swinging sixties.
The Signal
The dispersal provides collectors with rare access to primary material documenting Stamp's relationships with Jean Shrimpton and Princess Diana as well as key moments from films such as The Collector and Wall Street. Items such as the annotated suits and personal correspondence illustrate how private archives of major cultural figures enter the market and can illuminate both individual careers and broader social histories of 1960s London. The estimates, mostly in the low thousands of pounds, indicate an accessible entry point for buyers interested in film memorabilia and period fashion connected to a defining screen presence of the era.
